What we believe
We believe that God has given us good news in Jesus Christ
-
The good news is that Jesus is God’s Son, who came to earth as an ordinary bloke, in order to rescue us and be King over us.
- The good news is that by obeying God totally, by dying on the cross, and by rising from the dead, Jesus brought us forgiveness, new life, and a great rescue from hell.
- The good news tells us to trust Jesus, to receive peace with God, and with the help of his Spirit to turn from our rebellion against him.
- The good news motivates us to live for Jesus now as we wait for his promised return as judge and rescuer, when he brings this world to an end.
We believe that, because of Jesus Christ, we can know God as our Father, and that with the help of his Spirit we can trust, love and live for him.
- Our trust in him is empowered by Jesus’ presence with us - through the Holy Spirit.
- Our Christian lives are supported by Jesus’ family - the church.
- Our lives are about worshipping Jesus - that is, praising him with everything we do and all that we have.
- Our hope lifts our eyes from the here and now to our future - with Jesus in heaven.
We believe that the bible is God’s book, written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit - what the bible says is what God says.
- It is in the bible that we meet God and he teaches us what to believe about him and how to live.
- As a church, and as individuals, we submit to the authority of the bible.
- When we meet together, we place an emphasis on teaching from the bible.
- In our church family we encourage personal and corporate bible study.
We believe that the world’s greatest need is to hear and respond to this good news. That’s why we want all people...
To stop living for themselves, cutting God out, and to submit to Jesus Christ as rescuer and king.
- To know God as Father.
- To discover God’s will in the pages of the bible.
- To become part of his family, the church.
- To bring the good news of God’s rescue to their families, friends, colleagues, town, country and world.
